Today in History

There does that sound pompous enough?

1799 - Rosetta Stone is found in the Egyptian village of Rosetta, by French Captain Pierre-François Bouchard.
1815 - Napoléon Bonaparte surrenders from aboard HMS Bellerophon.
1995 - First item sold on Amazon.com

1606 - Rembrandt, Dutch artist (d. 1669)
1946 - Linda Ronstadt, American singer
1950 - Arianna Huffington, Greek-born newspaper columnist

And in Japan it is the third day of Obon feast period.

Oh yeah, and just fifty years ago, I was born too!

So thanks again to everyone that wished me a happy day, either in my F list, personally or whatever method!

I got a great b-day treat, it rained in Flagstaff (ok, for about 2 minutes, but it was enough to knock the temp down from 100F (38C) to 80F (27C), so I'll take it and gladly).
