This week I traded in my beloved 2000 Mercedes Benz SUV (ML55 AMG no less) for something newer and more practical.

I got a Magnesium Green 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan, with the Stow-N-Go seating that just drops into the floor of the cabin. It doesn't have a Navigation system, and I miss that dearly (spent the first 30 minutes being lost this morning that I'd spent thusly since I bought The Benz around Christmas of 2000!), but it's got automatic opening/closing rear side doors and rear hatch. Three zone HVAC so I can have one setting, Herself can have another and we can have full fan on the dogs in the back (this is Arizona after all!). An in-dash 6CD sound system (The Benz had it's changer in the back) with DVD player on the roof line for the back seats. (OK, no kids, so I don't have any plans on ever using that, but it was on the one I picked out on the lot and I beat them back on the price until it vanished from the bottom line so big deal.)

Yes, I'm now a soccer mom. Except there's no soccer, the extra room is for hauling dogs to shows (and agility trails), and really, I'm not a mom, more of a co-guardian, which looks stupid so just say Dad.

So I'm a Beagle Dad.

Yup that sounds about right.

The question now is, what to name the new wheels. The Benz, was always just that "The Benz", powerful, extravagant, luxurious. But I think a name is called for with this vehicle. (lady? perhaps, haven't even had time to figure that out yet;) )

So far I've come up with these suggestions

Meg, because of the color (meg-nesium green)

Notty, it's "Not the Benz"

TARDIS, it's really huge inside.

Bullfrog, it's big and green

Kermit, it's not easy being green

Shrek, back to the big and green theme.

So if you have any suggestions, or preferences feel free to let me know. If I get a lot of ideas I might hold a poll, just because I can :)

And now, it's time for work (yes on 7PM Saturday, I've got 8 to 12 hours ahead of me, which is why I haven't been posting much.)

Be good, I'll check back later.

(BTW, the LJ icon is not a picture of The Benz, but it is a Mercedes and boy is she pretty!)

I like Bullfrog, myself. Although in Arizona -- it would be a bull out of the marsh, for certain.

Is it Mallard green? Could call it "Duckie." *grin*

I'd just come up with some Klingon name if I gave a suggestion, so I won't, and save us both the trouble.

But I will wish you much happiness and pleasure in the driving of the new vessel, whatever name it ultimately answers to.

My braincells aren't being creative yet this morning, so among your posits TARDIS looks like the best one of the bunch to me. Congrats on the new wheels!

And nice to see you around here again. Your workhours are just plain insane...

It would have to be a blue box to truly qualify as a TARDIS. :-)

Ahhh... valid point. I withdraw my nomination. I *said* my braincells weren't working yet! :)
