If you're following the US Presidential race, you've probably heard about Sarah Pallin, Governor of Alaska, former mayor of a small town in that state. While mayor, her policies caused the city to charge rape vicitms for the cost of the evidence kits used.

Really.

Well TBogg over on Firedoglake (great political blog btw) has a greate idea.

Let's all go over to Planned Parenthood and make a donation in Sarah Palin's name!

Here's the details from the above link:

Instead of us all sending around more emails about how horrible Sarah Palin is, let's all make a donation to Planned Parenthood.

In Sarah Palin's name.

And here's the good part: when you make a donation to PP in her name, they'll send her a card telling her that the donation has been made in her honor.

Here's the link to the Planned Parenthood website

You'll need to fill in the address to let PP know where to send the "in Sarah Palin's honor" card. I suggest you use the address for the McCain campaign headquarters, which is:

McCain for President
1235 S. Clark Street
1st Floor
Arlington , VA 22202

PS make sure you use that link above or choose the pulldown of Donate--Honorary or Memorial Donations, not the regular "Donate Online"

Minimum donation is $5, and I think it's money well spent!

Better yet - planning to make a $50 donation? donate $5.50 9 times - the $.50 covers the cost of the post card and the stamp. 9 time.

a $50 becomes 9 cards in her mail.

I can't think of the quote which refers to trying to reason or argue with an animal that can't be reasoned with, someone about one will only get filthy and the animal will get annoyed. Gov Palin seems to belong to a narrowly focused dogmatic segment of the population that doesn't let others' realities interfere with what their credo and what they know -- if you've read Twelve Fair Kingdoms by Suzette Haden Elgin, there is one family run by religious fanatics who are hardworking, earnest, and completely intolerant of any lifestyle but their own narrowly defined dogmatic one, so much so that they are forces of evil.

Palin reminds me of them. They're not going to change, they're not interested in change, and they regard anyone who doesn't comply with their strict values and beliefs and worship and such, as going to burn in hell and deserving of it--and anything that furthers their agenda, short of oathbreaking to their church elders, is allowable because the others are wrong and the pursuit of their dogma, trumps all other values.

It's a relative of the old Maoist credo, "talk talk talk, fight fight fight, talk talk talk" -- it's appropriate politics, strategy, and tactics to mislead nonbelievers into having the nonbelievers think that there is compromise going on when it's a backstabbing prelude in pursuit of the goal, because the nonfaithful are deluded and the deluded don't count, what counts are the saved souls, and saving souls/coverting them, is for their own good, they don't know what is good for them, because they're deluded.

"Good faith" is by any means short of the foulest-as-defined-by-the-creed to effect enlightenment in the deluded and bring them into the faith. Since they're deluded, it's not lying or cheating, since they don't have the true light of understanding and belief... it's the duty of the faithful to evangelize and again, convert the nonbelievers. The justification used by the Southern Baptist Convention--which the Pentecostalist Christian Dominionists apparently aren't on the friendlies of terms with--that it's "anti-semitic" to NOT proselytize Jews, is that Jews are deluded in not believing in the Southern Baptist creed, and therefore it anti-semitic to not evangelize to bring them into True Belief.
==
Note, the above stuff is NOT my outlook on life, my appreciation for Christian Dominionists and Southern Baptist missionaries is limited to their level of dedication to their causes and their hard work. Their goals and orientation mostly appall me. They're dedicated--I find what they are dedicated to, however, offensive and intrusive.

I wouldn't send money in "honor" of Sarah Palin--there's very little that I consider honorable about her. It's dignifying a black slimefish or snakefish--a vicious, noxious disgusting predator.
